Edit: Added some additional info about the tile, installer, etc.

So, we decided not to tackle the tile job ourselves…wanted to save time and sanity. We hired it out and are super happy with the results (no way it would have turned out this nice doing it ourselves, plus it would have taken months).

Stroll through the whole remodel process up to this point in the Master Bathroom Remodel album.

The tile on the bathroom floor is 18x18 travertine laid out diagonally. The walls around the tub are 12x12 travertine laid in a straight pattern, with a band of 1x1 glass mosaic tiles for accent. Never mind the damage to the left of the tub in this photo, the tile guys had to make an adjustment since the walls weren't exactly plumb. A little mud / texture / paint and it'll be good as new.

Time to get busy with the finishing details…getting very close to finished.

Since the tile guys were going to be out here anyway, we decided to have them redo the entry and hall as well. See the Entry and Hall album.

Just a quick plug for our installer, his crew did an awesome job. If you need some tile work done in the San Diego area give David Tarte at New Image Tile a call: 858.268.0811

That’s turned out beautifully. I think you were wise to get the experts in, handyman stuff is really about painting and little touch up jobs. Bathrooms and tiling are more for the tradespeople.

That really looks classy! The choice of stone is wonderful. I am remodeling a few bathrooms and it is inspiring to look at what you are doing. I am living in a cold climate and torn between carpet on the floors (maybe carpet tiles?) or stone. Your diagonal set on the floor is really nice.

Wow, this is a really great job. I really like the tile choice. It really brings out the wall colors. As to your floor, well, I'm sure it was a welcome change, especially after seeing the original... Anyway, thanks for the crew tip, I'll look them up when I have renos to do!

Yeah, good idea to have it done by professionals. A slight mistake and your whole alignment is messed up. Might as well use their services for other parts of the house while they're at it! It looks very nice, great choice of tiles.

I’m currently blogging for a (poor) living for someone else… but I like it. You’ve inspired me to keep doing it, and look to doing it for myself soon.
